Johannesburg Muslim School (JMS) recognizes that certain learners not only achieve excellent academic results, but that they excel in all other aspects of school life.
JMS therefore acknowledge the additional effort and reward a learner with the presentation of the Principal’s Award.
This Award is open to all learners at our School. The criteria is the same as that of the Dux Award. These include academic excellence in both the secular and Islamiyat divisions, leadership qualities, helpfulness, trustworthy, integrity and “Akhlaaq”. Akhlaaq is an Arabic term which, simply translated, means the practice of virtue, morality and manners. It includes disposition, ethics, morals and character of a person.
This award is, ideally, made to a learner from a Grade other than Matric. However, in practice, the Principal’s Award is often given to a Matric learner. The standard for this award is, however, slightly less than that which is applicable to the recipient of the Dux Award. It acts as a motivation to greater heights and ultimately, and hopefully, to the prestigious and coveted Dux Award.
Please note that this award has been discontinued.
